Day 18 – Prayer Focus – “Looking Unto Jesus”

Hebrews 12:2 – “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

What are your first thoughts in the morning? Where do you focus your attention? One of the main goals we should have everyday is to dedicate our lives to the Lord and make a commitment to keep “looking unto Jesus.” We look away from Jesus when we are unthankful. We look away from Jesus when we criticize others and complain. We look away when we worry about our problems. We look away when we fail to pray, spend time with the Lord and meditate on His word. Jesus is the author and the finisher of our faith and Satan is the great distractor. Let’s ignore his urgings and keep our eyes on Jesus. When we do, we will find it easier to run the race that is set before us. Keep your eyes on the prize!

“There’s victory for you over sin and its shame:
Look only to Jesus, there’s power in His name.
The devil can’t harm you nor cause you to sin;
By trusting the Savior the victory you’ll win.”- Anon.

Dr. Vernon McGee said, “Let us now get out of the grandstand; let us get down on the racecourse of life, and let us do whatever God has called us to do wherever He has called us to live and move and have our being. Let us run the Christian race, and let us move out for God.”
