PPT “House of Prayer”

Senior Pastor, Dr. Janet Cook

Mark 11:17 My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.

Matthew 22:37-38 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment.”

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

What is the purpose of the House of God?

Exodus 29:42-43 “This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of meeting before the LORD, where I will meet you to speak with you. And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by My glory.”

  • We communicate with God through prayer.
  • “I will meet you to speak with you.”

2 Chronicles 7:14-15 “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.”

  • God’s greatest desire is to forgive us and heal our land.
  • The power of God is released when the people of God humble themselves and pray.

My House shall be called a House of Prayer

Mark 11:17 – Then He taught, saying to them, “Is it not written, My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it a den of thieves.’ ”

  • They had turned the House into something other than what it was intended to be.
  • Jesus was quoting Isaiah 56:7-8

The purpose of the church is to be a house of prayer, a meeting place for God to commune with His people both individually and corporately.

It is Time to Seek the Lord

Hosea 10:12  “Sow for yourselves righteousness; Reap in mercy;

Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the Lord,

Till He comes and rains righteousness on you.”

  • When we pray God promises to respond.

Psalm 105:4 “Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore!”

  • God would not tell us to seek something if we were not able to find it.

Call to Me and I Will Answer YOU!

Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”

2 Corinthians 2:9-10 “But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,

Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.”

The book of Acts illustrates the power of God released through the lives of a praying church.

Acts 2:42-47 “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles…

When God’s people commit themselves to prayer….

Ephesians 3:20-21 “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

Mother’s Day Message

Happy Mother’s Day

The Words of King Lemuel’s Mother

1 The words of King Lemuel, the utterance which his mother taught him:

2 What, my son?

And what, son of my womb?

And what, son of my vows?

3 Do not give your strength to women,

Nor your ways to that which destroys kings.

4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel,

It is not for kings to drink wine,

Nor for princes intoxicating drink;

5 Lest they drink and forget the law,

And pervert the justice of all the afflicted.

6 Give strong drink to him who is perishing,

And wine to those who are bitter of heart.

7 Let him drink and forget his poverty,

And remember his misery no more.

8 Open your mouth for the speechless,

In the cause of all who are appointed to die.

9 Open your mouth, judge righteously,

And plead the cause of the poor and needy.

The Virtuous Wife

10 Who can find a virtuous wife?

For her worth is far above rubies.

11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her;

So he will have no lack of gain.

12 She does him good and not evil

All the days of her life.

13 She seeks wool and flax,

And willingly works with her hands.

14 She is like the merchant ships,

She brings her food from afar.

15 She also rises while it is yet night,

And provides food for her household,

And a portion for her maidservants.

16 She considers a field and buys it;

From her profits she plants a vineyard.

17 She girds herself with strength,

And strengthens her arms.

18 She perceives that her merchandise is good,

And her lamp does not go out by night.

19 She stretches out her hands to the distaff,

And her hand holds the spindle.

20 She extends her hand to the poor,

Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.

21 She is not afraid of snow for her household,

For all her household is clothed with scarlet.

22 She makes tapestry for herself;

Her clothing is fine linen and purple.

23 Her husband is known in the gates,

When he sits among the elders of the land.

24 She makes linen garments and sells them,

And supplies sashes for the merchants.

25 Strength and honor are her clothing;

She shall rejoice in time to come.

26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,

And on her tongue is the law of kindness.

27 She watches over the ways of her household,

And does not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;

Her husband also, and he praises her:

29 “Many daughters have done well,

But you excel them all.”

30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,

But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.

  • Fears – H3372 yare’= morally reverent

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands,

And let her own works praise her in the gates.

  • Hands – H3027 yad = power, means, direction

Proverbs 9:10-11 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For by me your days will be multiplied, And years of life will be added to you.

Proverbs 22:4 By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life.

Is Your Confidence Showing? Outline

PPT Is your confidence showing?

What the enemy meant for evil God is working out for our good.

Genesis 50:20 But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.

Jesus Christ came into the world to destroy the works of the devil.

1 John 3:8b – For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

All Things Work Together for Good

Romans 8:27-28 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Is your confidence showing?

Hebrews 4:16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. NIV

(Confidence = G3954 – par-rhay-see’-ah

The Greek word for Confidence – G3954 – it means – all outspokenness, frankness, bluntness, publicity, by implication, assurance, boldness of speech, confidence, freely, openly, plainly.

Root word – to say, command or speak

Hold Fast the Confidence

Hebrews 3:5-6- And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward, 6 but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.

Hebrews 3:7-11

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:

“Today, if you will hear His voice,

8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,

In the day of trial in the wilderness,

9 Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me,

And saw My works forty years.

10 Therefore I was angry with that generation,

And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart,

And they have not known My ways.’

11 So I swore in My wrath,

‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ”

Hold the Beginning of Our Confidence

12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, 15 while it is said:

“Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”

Speak the Word of God Boldly

Acts 4:31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. NIV

  • Boldness is a divine enablement that comes to ordinary and unprofessional people.
  • Boldness is the Holy Spirit moving through someone with a divine surge of power and ability.
  • Boldness is the result of being filled with the Holy Spirit.
  • The purpose is to boldly proclaim the gospel.

Pentecost Sunday is on May 31st

We experienced a literal Passover in April. Will we experience a literal Pentecost in May?

Acts 2:1-4 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Now this is the Confidence

1 John 5:14 -15 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

  1. If we ask anything according to His will

  1. Approach God in faith

  1. Pray in the name of Jesus – John 14:13-14 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

  1. Have Confidence in God to answer you.
