To kneel, bless, praise and salute. To bless in the
Old Testament means "to endue with power for success,
prosperity, fertility, longevity, etc." It is a
word for hope - kneel in hope, to bless in adoration,
expecting to receive.

To be clear (transparent) or shine, to laud, boast,
rave, celebrate clamorously, to be loudly foolish, to
make a show.

Jack Taylor, author of THE HALLELUJAH FACTOR: "There
is a point at which praise seems too little concerned
with the reason and intellect and could be labeled by
the watching skeptic as foolish ... " Twenty-four
times this word is employed with the name of "Jah".
This form of praise is to be offered in an attitude
of delight and rejoicing. Also most of the occurrences
are plural. It could be expressed in speaking Jer.
31:7, singing Ps.
69:30, and with dancing Ps.
149:3. "Hallelujah" - Spontaneous outcry
of one excited about God. The only word in English that
is the same in every language.

Confession, extensions of the hand in adoration (lift
arms with hands cupped inward), specifically a choir
of worshippers, (sacrifice of ) praise, thanks.
"TODA" often accompanied the thank-offerings
of Israel which were especially a time of joy. Singing
was a common means through which one confessed God's
greatness. In given situations many made vows to sacrifice.

Laudation, a hymn, praise, praise worthy deeds. "To
sing extemporaneously." How this word is used in
context brings tremendous light to its meaning. It is
the fourth most frequently used word relating to praise
in the Old Testament.
(Occurs 57 times in the Old Testament.)
This noun comes from the root "halal". Tehillah
brings in the idea of singing "halal".
• Rev. Leonard Gardner, in his booklet "Worship
or Heresy", says "tehillah is that which births
and blesses the name of the Lord. It is the song that
the Lord sings in the midst of His Church. There is
the song that we initiate, and then there is the song
that the Lord sings through us."
